At The Educated Fish Co, our purpose is to find and to bring to you the Best in Class species raised by Aquaculture companies who adhere to standards that produce a truly Sustainable Fish. The hidden gems that have had limited exposure to the USA market.

Our Experience & Knowledge

We use our experience and knowledge to promote, deliver and stimulate appreciation for and understanding of Aquaculture Seafood that represent the highest level of quality, integrity, and value to the American customer.

We help both International and Domestic Aquaculture companies develop the USA market for their products by strategically placing the fish in the hands of the best Distributors, Retail and Foodservice accounts to maintain and promote the value of the brand.

We don’t believe in hype.

We much prefer the simple facts. Our industry is chocking on companies promoting false information. When it sounds too good to be true – it usually is.

Who We Are

OUR OWNER: JAMES MACKNIGHT

James has been in the seafood industry for over 35 years. From the creation of a Smoked Salmon company in his early 20’s to owning a Sustainable Seafood Distribution company to being involved within the RAS Aquaculture sector. All of which has afforded him great experience within the Seafood business. He grew up in a small fishing town on the west coast of Scotland and emigrated to the USA in his late teens. His passion for fish started in Scotland when he was seven where he would catch spring run wild Atlantic salmon from the River Stinchar and peddle them to the local hotels and restaurants.

His Vision

His vision, and what he believes to be a crucial step in safeguarding our future food security, is to identify and promote Aquaculture seafood that hold the key to a truly sustainable tomorrow. “There is a place on the menu for both wild and farmed seafood that are harvested and raised the right way. Both are crucial if we are to rise to the growing global demand. The future success of our industry lies within collaboration. Join us on this exciting journey.”
